the good old days of music videos

missing videos when i’m up at 2 a.m. and vh1 comes on and i start seeing videos for songs, i realize how much i miss videos. to see videos for songs i know, and then to be drawn to songs i don’t know, but be interested because there’s visuals to go with them. yeah.

the other night, i got totally drawn in by this nickleback video (yeah, shut up) for this song “if everyone cared.” truly, the song is pretty cheesy and i don’t really listen to most of the lyrics. but the video is pretty cool and has all these inspiring moments in human history. geldof’s band aid, this story about this woman betty williams, who won the nobel peace prize, nelson mandela, amnesty international. it sort of reminds me of the video for van halen’s ‘right now.’

it ends with this quote: “never doubt that a small group of committed people can change the world. indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” — margaret mead.

i fucking love that.

total p.s. the new maroon 5 song is kind of hot. i always liked them when they were triple A material, but this is good. it’s dancier. oh, and the new tori amos is really good, too.
